Whidbey Island Part 3 Fort Casey and Lighthouse

I thought Fort Casey would be an amazing place to let the kids run around and have some fun.
This field was the only safe place.

I guess the last time I went to a fort was prior to having offspring. You see I am terrified of heights. I have a hard time in two story open malls. I have to walk right next to the stores to feel some since of calm. Tyson can't even walk next to the glass to down below without me panicking inside. My point being a fort has some hand rails to keep you from tumbling to your death but your children can walk right under those hand rails.

Aiden and a giant gun. (Check out how steep the stairs are, yes they are as tall as his knees)

Did I mention the ladders and super steep stairs everywhere.
Giant gun again.
Now in order to get to this I had to walk across a concrete walkway that was about 2 feet wide with the very safe hand rails and 2 stories up. Now the only thing that makes me more nervous about heights is having to carry my children around heights. I assure you I was a mess by the time I got to this outpost. But I made it.

The fort is right on the ocean (or is it considered the sound, truthfully I have no idea) and has some amazing views.
Notice the super safe handrail.

This is the Admiral Lighthouse.

The view from the top of the lighthouse.

Now don't get me wrong, the fort was cool and we (the boys) had a great time.
